ABOUT

ANGELIKA MINAEVA

Political analysis, historical memory, and regional journalism

I am a Russian political analyst, historian, and journalist based in Florida, USA.

My work focuses on regional politics, public institutions, historical memory, and the lived experience of contemporary Russia.

This website brings together articles, memoir fragments, and visual materials as part of a broader documentary and archival project.

Biography

My academic background is in Russian history.

I earned a Candidate of Historical Sciences degree (PhD equivalent) in 2006.

From 2003 to 2018, I taught history and political science while continuing research on Russian political culture and regional public life.

From 2018 to 2021, I worked as Editor-in-Chief of the Tula office of Moskovsky Komsomolets.

Between 2017 and 2021, I also served as Chair of the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Policy and Local Self-Government Development of the Tula Region.

In 2017, I participated in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on Beyond the Numbers: How Political Parties Can Effectively Use Polling Data.

I also served on the board of the Tula branch of Memorial, Russia’s historical, educational, and human rights organization that was later awarded the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize.

Over the years, I have written more than 200 journalistic articles and academic papers. My work has received recognition in journalism, political analysis, and public research

I left Russia as an act of protest against political repression and the war in Ukraine.

This website continues my work in another form. It brings together articles, memoir fragments, and visual materials as part of a documentary and archival project on regional Russia and the experience of journalism there.
